BIOGRAPHY
My name is Brendan Riordan, I have been riding dirtbikes since age 3 1/2 and started racing at age 5. I grew up racing in the NETRA PeeWee series, then on to Jr Enduros and eventually Hare Scrambles. At age 14 I was one of the youngest riders to make AA (local Pro) status in NETRA, I went from the mini class to AA in one year which has only been done by 4 other riders! While I have never won an overall championship I am typically in the hunt have finished 5th, 3rd and 2nd overall.
While I was typically riding NETRA events we also traveled to the GNCC's, ECEA and even a few motocross events when the schedule allowed, this was mostly for building skills and having some fun away from the grueling New England terrain!
A few years ago JDay Offroad GP came on to the scene, with two short 30 minute motos speed was key and it was something I knew I needed to work on if I wanted my career to progress. With a combination of woods, moto and extreme obstacles it is great for developing as a well rounded rider and it allowed me to work on areas where I needed the most development. Working my way through the ranks from A200 I finished the 2016 season in 3rd Overall in the Pro Class!
For 2017 I am giving racing at the national level a shot and putting in some serious effort! While I have raced a few GNCC's at the XC2 Pro level before you cannot expect solid results unless you are training at their level, for most of the top 20 riders this is their full time job! Going to college, some light training and riding on Sundays just doesn't cut it at this level and the results showed. This yearI am taking the Spring Semester off from school and have been training full time since January and the hard work is starting to pay off as my results have shown. I am not quite where I want to be just yet but I know it won't happen overnight, the important thing is I am heading in the right direction.
This year I decided to give the ISDE a shot, I have several good friends that have done it the past few years and done extremely well, it is something I have always wanted to do but with College it has not been feasible. This year with the ISDE being at the end of August in France I can squeeze it in and still be back to Bridgewater State for my Senior Year. For more in the ISDE and my fundraising efforts please see the ISDE page.
Wish me luck!
